M Squared is a fusion trio that started in the Spring of 2012 based on one simple premise: to create music that pushes us to higher levels of musicianship and inspires the musicians and/or music lovers that hear us to do the same. This is accomplished by a love for music, lots of preparation, and the use of loop technology to build layers of sound, both in a studio environment and a live setting. All of our musicians take a scientific, purposeful approach to the music we write and perform. Hence, our band name, M Squared: m2, musician's music.
Fusion is a blend of many styles of music. In our case, each member contributes flavors and elements of jazz, blues, classical, bluegrass/fiddle, rock, and funk.
Our music is influenced by such non-traditional, "fusion" artists as the Vital Tech Tones, Chick Corea, Regina Carter, Victor Wooten, Dave Matthews Band, Yellowjackets, Garaj Mahal, Pat Metheny, Neos, Dapp Theory, and many more. What inspires us is the ability to be free to express and create in the moment. While we cover some of these artists through original arrangements in a live setting, our main focus is performing our original compositions.
