"Video Premiere: Max Hatt / Edda Glass “Crossing Over”"

Wilco guitarist Nels Cline describes the sounds of Jazz-Americana duo Max Hatt / Edda Glass as “Beautiful music that is subtly poignant, elegantly funky, and haunting without trying to be. Their songs are direct yet often take unexpected and colorful harmonic twists and turns, delighting the ear.” Cline's Wilco bandmate Pat Sansone produced and mixed their new album Ocean Of Birds along with Josh Shapera (Liam Hayes, The Autumn Defense). Today we premiere their official video for "Crossing Over." The pair will be touring throughout much of May in support of the new record. - Relix Magazine: Blog

"Sing Me Home: Chats with Yo-Yo Ma [...] plus Max Hatt/Edda Glass exclusives"

Of their music, Pat Sansone says...

“I was mesmerized from the first moment I heard them. They have the ability to create a deep sonic landscape with songs that possess a mysterious and soulful magic.”

Max Hatt adds...

“We’re from the American West...Montana. ‘Wanted’ is love lost wearing cowboy boots, ridin’ through the pines, looking for some peace of mind. The imagery is classic western mythology. ‘She stands in the door...’ brings to mind John Ford’s The Searchers, Neil Young’s ‘Big Green Country’ or Jim Jarmusch’s Dead Man. Pure western existentialism.” - Huffington Post

"Album Review: ‘Ocean of Birds’ by Max Hatt / Edda Glass"

“Their lyrics/ instrumentals encapsulate the confusing sentiment of feeling both lost and found, all at once…This album is for those that want to hear a song that tells them it is okay to be human, and that you are not alone in not knowing what that exactly means." - New York Theatre Guide

"Ocean of Birds"

"The album arranges itself as an exemplification in the beauty of contemplation, and Hatt, a clever, complex songwriter and musician, and Glass, with a warm, pacific tone and impeccable vocal command, make a compelling argument for their brand of jazz with soulful inclinations." - Pop Matters

Bio

“Subtly poignant, elegantly funky, and haunting without trying to be…and a voice [that] must be heard to be believed.” – Nels Cline (Wilco)

Max Hatt / Edda Glass features an unmistakeable voice, ethereal guitar, and the duo’s award-winning Jazz Americana compositions. “We want to write about a world both intimate and vast, about little people on great plains,” says Glass. “Plus sometimes we throw in a little Bossa Nova.” Their 2016 Ocean of Birds Tour kicked off with NPR Mountain Stage and took them them across the country and several genres, from the jazz clubs of Manhattan to Nashville’s record stores and New England’s folk fests. Based in Santa Fe, NM, the duo first hit the national stage at NYC’s Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, where they won the 2014 Grand-Prize of the international Mountain Stage / NewSong Competition. In addition to NPR Mountain Stage, they’ve been featured by Daytrotter, City Winery NYC’s Cellar Sessions, Huffington Post, Relix Magazine, Lincoln Center, and ASCAP at the Sundance Film Festival. Produced by Pat Sansone of Wilco & Autumn Defense, Ocean of Birds is available now: bit.ly/ocean-of-birds-itunes
