 Introducing Typhus

Typhus emerges into the realm of Hip-Hop with a sick style of mind-blowing skills. Born 11/11/1993 as Michael Stanley Clark III, nicknamed " Tre' ", people quickly noticed that even as a young boy, he had a way with words and was ahead of his time. Previously called " Lil Tre' ", the 20 year-old Houston lyricist birthed his moniker, Typhus, his 10th grade year sitting in History class at Cypress Falls High School.

He learned that Typhus was an epidemic during the days of the Holocaust. What made this disease so potent is that it feasted on every soul it came into contact with, for there was no cure. As you can imagine, it slayed thousands of people. At 16 years of age, the young emcee formed Typhus into a paradox. He then originated his catch phrase "Kill Beats and Heal People." Instead of killing people he kills beats, indubitably healing the people. And just like no cure could stop the plague, Typhus the emcee believes that NOTHING can stop him from answering his calling...

As the oldest of four, growing up in the dirty south wasn’t always easy. Self-motivation hasn’t been a hard obstacle to overcome. He reflects on a time in the fifth grade when he was so excited about Christmas and the only gift that Santa could afford was a box of Honey Buns. Motivation. That pales in comparison to when he shattered his left arm and was told that he may never be able to use it again. After six months of paralysis, depression, 21 staples, and a six inch plate, he regained full use of his arm, and instead of reaching for help, he reached for a mic. His senior year in High School, Typhus won a competition known as "Coast 2 Coast" in Houston, TX. He was the youngest of all competetors at 18 years of age. Attracting lots of attention, Typhus had a choice to travel to Miami to chase his dreams with Music, or to follow up on his Football Scholarship he earned at Harding University; a Private Christian School located in Searcy, AR. Typhus understood how important education is, so he accepted his Scholarship and attended Harding University in Fall of 2012. "I told myself that if music is meant for me, it'll hit me when I least expect it." After months of feeling abandoned, lonely, starving nights in a dorm, a struggling mother 8 hours away raising his three younger siblings; barely able to maintain bills, all it took was for Typhus to receive a call that his grandmother that raised him throughout his childhood, "NaNa", was entering the final stages of Cancer for him to make the decision that changed his life forever. "My mother knew that NaNa was sick for a while when I was at Harding. She never told me how sick NaNa was because she wanted me to stay focused on school and football, constantly telling me not to worry about anything. The day my mother called me and told me how bad NaNa was, I remember crying harder than I ever have in my entire life, feeling as though my shadow had more of a soul than I did. I even yelled at my mother with raging tears asking her why she never told me NaNa was so sick. All my mother could do was yell with tears back "I'M SORRY, I'M SO SORRY" over and over again. She then said "baby come home, I need you. WE need you." I knew that coming home meant three things. GOD has a plan, I'm going to take care of my family, and be one of greatest emcees to ever walk this planet." Typhus went back home to Houston in December of 2012. His grandmother, NaNa, transitioned from earth on Christmas Day. Though there has been many critics, doubters, and other hardships, Typhus is well beyond where he was expected to be, and exactly where he visioned himself. The best kept secret everyone should know.

Typhus flows for the struggle. When describing influences, he recognizes Tupac Shakur as not only a great rapper, but also an activist who expressed his life within his music. Typhus holds high regard for women and he sees how, in this day, that women put unnecessary strain on their selves for approval.

Typhus personifies wisdom at its very best and embodies the epitome of “energy and water.” His energy seizes interest with his dynamic force, honing in on his flooding waters of knowledge, leaving you thirsting for more. Typhus aims to replenish the rap game proving to be an organic and raw contender. “Power”, Typhus adds, “is not about control, but about influence. God created us out of love, but didn’t force us to love Him by giving us choices and free will.” Typhus is on a mission to cultivate the minds of the oppressed through his authentic lyrics of passion, pain, and that “Dirty South” sickness.
