"Nudecolors Lead Us to Their New Age"

Any band reaching for success must be willing to evolve. Use all the skills and creative tools available to experiment. Only then will a band find their true sound. Staying stagnant will result in going nowhere. Our recent discovery Nudecolors seems to understand this and has new music for us to enjoy.

The 4-piece band hails from Duluth, Minnesota. Nudecolors is made up of Steve Hamlin (Fronthuman), Nic Hanson (lead guitar and backup vocals), CJ Hanson (keys and backup vocals), and Darin Steenerson (bass). Together they continue to develop thier unique but radio-relatable sound with a polish that puts them alongside some of the big names out there right now.

The latest offering from Nudecolors is the impressive “New Age”. Right away the ambient sonic backdrop sets the tone for a full experience. Sounds fill the speakers from all angles as the vocals of Steve Hamlin cascade over the listener with a warm and welcoming vibe. Guitars and keyboards take their turns wailing to keep the music energized and intoxicating. There is something here that is ready for arena stages. Get on board now before the rocket ship takes off.

We had a chance to chat with Nudecolors about their growth and where they see themselves next. Enjoy the interview:

Q: So how did the name Nudecolors come to be?
A: We were once called Medical Underground. The name came to me a long time ago in my teens and I thought it was time for a change. I started to put together a list and paired Nude with Colors and liked it as one word. We declared our new name at a show after getting assurance from fans about it.
Q: How would you describe the sound of the band?
A: It’s an evolving thing. We started off with a raw, indie alt-rock sound and have now branched out into a more polished, 80’s new wave pop sound.
Q: Which bands have had the biggest influence on you?
A: The Killers, The Cure, New Order, Joy Divison, Beck, Low
Q: How does a song come together for the band? What is the songwriting process?
A: I (Steve) usually write most of the song and the other band members rewrite or tweak what’s written. Nic writes all of his own guitar parts.
Q: What do you hope a listener takes away from a Nudecolors’ song?
A: I hope people can use our songs to help them process and interpret their own personal feelings. I like to leave the interpretation of our songs to the listeners. Everyone interprets art differently. That’s the beauty of it.
Q: Give us a look into the future of Nudecolors?
A: We have a new E.P. in the making, coming out early next year. We just released a single called “New Age” and we’re releasing another single on December 23rd called “Lost”. All available on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, YouTube, and most other streaming engines around the world. We’re also planning a tour around the Midwest to promote our E.P.
