Bio

Outlaw Kings is made up of all seasoned musicians who come from different genres of music. Outlaw Kings will take any song and add an edge to it. They make it thier own. They play a variety of music, including some orginals. 

El Jay-Lead Vocals- ELJay loves to harness that power with a broad audience of fellow music lovers and passionate musicians alike. Ever since a young age, ELJay has found great joy and satisfaction by being involved in the creative music process. ElJay participated in the family business by the age of 5 performing Motown hits with his father. Then performing in the church until the age of 18. He took up several instruments including saxophone, clarinet, and piano. At 20, he joined the band 11:1. They released an album titled “Chemistry rock and zen flow”. 6 years later he joined a cover project Monkey Fist after the break up of 11:1. After 2 years at the helm of Monkey Fist, El Jay started a band with his best friend and collaborator Dana Parton called "Throwing Knives". After 2 years and a couple of line up changes, he joined "Sloth Loves Chunk" before becoming the new lead singer of the band Faultline Following the break up with Faultline, he Joined Fine Swiss Cheese as the frontman. He then started writing songs with Dana Parton and formed the group "The Outlaw Kings". 

Dana Parton-Guitar/Backup Vocals-Born and raised in Northern Pennsylvania where he started playing music at the age of 12. He first started learning guitar then sax and bass. He moved to Richmond,VA at the age of 14 and started his musical journey. He started out in several rock/metal bands in the Richmond area including P.I.E.R.C.E.D and Memory Fade. His most successful stint was with Fail-Safe which signed an independent label out of Tennessee and did a lot of touring. Fail-Safe opened up for Breaking Benjamin, Alien Ant Farm, Shinedown, Trapt, Hinder, Nonpoint, Bobaflex and Gwar. During this time Dana learned a lot about the music industry. Dana also, before his untimely death, helped run a studio and production company with Cory Smoot (Flattus Maximus) from Gwar where he spent a great deal of time learning live sound and studio engeneering. Dana also started a band with his best friend and collaborator El Jay called"Throwin Knives". Eventually Dana moved out of the Richmond area to Hampton Roads where he got back to his family roots and founded the country band TypeCast.  After Typecast, he had a short run with The Maria Taylor Band and soon started collaborating and writing songs with El Jay which has now become Outlaw Kings. Dana also plays in an acoustic country act Midnight Run. 

John Cook-Drummer- A homegrown artist/musician,Born and raised in Portsmouth, VA. Grew up listening to classic rock, Motown, P-funk, the elements of the universe, TOP 80's hair bands, Rush, Big Band, and everything in between. Played drums and percussion professionally for over 22 years, traveling the world playing with some of the best musicians on the planet. For John, groove is everything.
