Bio
I began my musical journey in my hometown of Ponce, Puerto Rico, where I was recruited by La Terrífica in the early 1970s to play bari-saxophone. This opportunity led me into the world of salsa, and I toured Latin America, performing with renowned musicians like Tito Gómez, Héctor Pérez, and Ismael Miranda, among others.
In the 1980s, I moved to Chicago, where I expanded my musical skills to include flute, vocals, and guitar. This evolution naturally led to my growth as a Sonero, known for my distinctive improvisation and blending street-wise humor with rhythm and swing.
I've collaborated with various artists in the salsa and Latin music scenes and released original compositions like "Boca de Río," "El Corillo," and "Elvira," available on Spotify and iTunes. My latest CD, Palabras (2024), features tracks such as “Falso Amor” and “Dilema.”
I’m committed to sharing my passion for music through local events and look forward to continuing to evolve as an artist with new projects that showcase my creativity and dedication to the art form.
