"Download Pheo's California Sex EP"

Light a couple, pour some yak and then hop in the shower, instructs Pheo, a Moreno Valley, California native, on the smoldering title track of his California Sex EP. Over DJA’s dusky, languid beat, he lists gifts from The Golden State, like hydraulics and hydroponic weed. On "How Eye," the 25-year-old rapper compares his smoothness to Ron Isley and asserts his mantra, Avocado Everything—meaning black on the outside and green money on the inside. As the latest offering from Jeffree's (Mad Decent’s free weekly release project), this laid-back, five-song EP will take you to the West Coast without breaking the bank. Watch him toke up in the wilderness with models in the Slick Jackson-directed video for "Angelina's Beamer" and you'll get there even faster. - The Fader

"Pheo. "Medianos (prod. by AFTA-1)" feat. Steve Liriks [Official Video]"

So many avocados. “Medianos” was one of those AFTA-1 beats I really had no desire to hear lyrics over, until I pressed play on Pheo.’s recreation. Pheo. and Steve Liriks really do this one justice. Not overdone, Pheo. just smoothly rides the beat in ways others probably shouldn’t attempt. So many avocados. The track will be featured on Pheo.’s next project, The Adret (his first since 2012’s They Soulection). Video directed by TheDean. - Okayplayer

"Music to Pick Up/Download | L.A. Weekly"

Despite the title, the only disturbance Pheo. plans to create is between the sheets. WRIOT! details the courtship rituals typical of modern-day Romeos — explicit texts from somebody else's girlfriend and a "Pink Champagne & Purple Weed"–expedited trip to the bedroom. But Pheo.'s romantic insouciance doesn't extend past his lyrics. Even as he drops consonants over producer J.Bizness's Prince-inspired "Last Night Morning," he maintains a tighter grasp on his flow than his obvious counterpart, Wiz Khalifa (whose frequent producer, Cardo, contributed a track). Couple of small glitches in this affair, but we played it 10 times in two days. Enough said. - L.A. Weekly

"New music: Pheo. - California Sex | Music | The Guardian"

In 1995 when Tupac rapped about California, there was nothing but love. On 25-year-old rapper Pheo's 2012 tribute things get a little more carnal. California Sex is an ode specifically to the female population of America's most populated state, Pheo delivering charming lines such as "we shag on the ground" in his slurred drawl over expansive synth rumbles, Drake-esque dripfeed beats and those gargantuan drum claps that seem to have taken over hip-hop of late.

California Sex also sets the tone for the rest of the EP of the same name, all of which is available to download for free from the player above. Featuring a sample from Beastie Boys' Intergalactic, Drop finds Pheo more engaged over a futuristic patter of chirruping beats and ghostly synths, while the ecstatic Angelina's Beamer is the sort of song you imagine people play in their drop-top Escalades. How Eye and This All Been Vintage, meanwhile, show off the production skills of Diplo associate DJ, who builds up layers of echo-laden piano and squelching beats on the former and utilises a gorgeous organ riff on the latter.

Apparently Pheo's mantra is Avocado Everything, meaning black on the outside (skin) and green on the inside (money). We're not sure how giving away your EPs for free is going to help the whole money situation but if California Sex tells us anything it's that Pheo's not short on confidence. - The Guardian

"They Soulection"

As promised, here we are at the end of the working week with our 2nd release by a MC/Vocalist who goes by Pheo. All the way from Moreno Valley, CA – Pheo has been on our radar ever since we heard a few collaborations between him & AFTA-1 over this past summer. After listening to his music, playing his tracks on Soulection Radio, and getting a huge response from our listeners, we knew that this guy was something special.

Within a short span we were in contact with Pheo and from that point on is why we are here today! In this music culture there are so many MCs and artists in general who are up and coming and who claim to be next-level and on to something different. However, too many artists miss that reality by far and don’t make it past a certain sound barrier or audience. In this case, we feel that Pheo’s direction is universally great! From his lyrical content, delivery, voice, beat selection, and presentation, Pheo can reach all audiences.

Beyond MCs just bickering and talking themselves up, Pheo manages to express his vision with style and ease. His flow is so smooth as he speaks about his experiences with women, adversity, and just every day occurrences . They Soulection EP displays plenty of depth and features some brilliant production from artists such as: AFTA-1, Christoph El Truento, S-X, Mo Ellah, Tek Nalo G, Alf Alpha, and others. Download and take this one within yourself. Enjoy and spread it.

“From the ear to the soul is They Soulection. Who are they? They are WE, and WE are US. That’s really all WE have left.. hopefully WE can learn and appreciate that before WE are no more. Let YOUR soul select what is destined, for that’s really all that YOU have. Yall stay black.” -Pheo - Soulection

"Listen to Beatnick Dee's "Luxurious Rain" FT. Pheo"

What does a producer who was born in the Bay Area, raised in England, and now lives in Los Angeles sound like? Beatnick Dee. After working with Blu, Rass Kass, and Army of the Pharaohs, Dee is ready for his debut album, Creative Medicine (6/30). The West Coast funk is strong with this one but also has a fuzzy density to the overall vibe. The album features Denitia & Sene, Cashus King (FKA Co$$), and many others.

“Luxurious Rain” features Pheo and one of the more interesting beats of 2015 so far. It sounds like a mix of early A$AP Rocky and Lil Ugly Mane. It also matches the title of the track perfectly. - The Source

Pheo Cado

The man, the legend, the avocado

Its been x amount of years since Pheo Cado has graced this sad world with his positivity and understated facial expressions. While some may be fooled into thinking his delicate, wallflower disposition is passive; those who encounter Pheo learn quickly that the beautiful beast who lies just beneath the surface has a bite much more ferocious than its roar. It is through this subtle approach, however, that Pheo is able to deliver such a poignant, fierce insight through his music.

A child bred in the desert climate of Moreno Valley, CA, Pheo believes that the world is an inside joke between himself and God. In taking light the world around him, Pheo has miraculously mastered the ability to see beauty in all things and people while simultaneously not compromising his integrity.  Such a feat is not easy, but it was through the help of his friends-turned-art goons-turned-family, UTB Life$tyle, that Pheo was able to keep his head above the waste of suburban run-off.  In turn, he was able to keep the mountains in sight and more importantly, the bigger picture in perspective.

It is by no accident, then, but rather hard work and a finely crafted talent that Pheo has already been on a major US and Canada tour with the likes of Juicy J and rang in his birthday in 2013 by performing on stage at Paid Dues.  Taking the most sacred imagery of Southern California as his own, Pheo has transformed the Avocado into a symbol of all things simple and beautiful in this world; a symbol he carries with him as a delicious reminder to keep things black on the outside and green on the inside.
