"RedStryke Goes From Shy Guy to Crowd Pleaser"

"RedStryke, Darius Malloy, is a shy guy when he's around town but when he steps on stage, he transforms into a crowd pleaser. The Lakeland rapper has been gaining a following for his catchy beats and smooth lyrical delivery. Off the stage, RedStryke is constantly keeping in touch with fans and promoting his music through Facebook and Twitter. His latest album, "My Future," had a massive turnout from the Polk County hip-hop community for its release at Evolution Records in July. On Aug. 10, RedStryke will be performing at Club LAX in Orlando, opening for fellow hip-hop artists Trina and Tru Reality." - Matt Reinstetle, The Lakeland Ledger

Bio

February 9, 1987: In the quiet city of Raleigh, North Carolina, Darius Malloy A.K.A. RedStryke was born. The second he was born to the revered Phyllis Malloy, an ordained minister in the house of God, and to the proud Benny Malloy, they noticed his musical talent. It was no surprise to Darius’ parents that their little boy had a strong passion for music because he was always surrounded by it. He and his family relocated to Lakeland, FL shortly after he was born. Even at the tender age of seven Darius began going to church with his mother, where he picked up the drums and played on a regular basis. From there, he progressed to learn the piano and today he mixes between the two mediums.
Darius Also grew up playing basketball and when he was not shooting hoops with the boys, he was studying or penning down his thoughts to a beat that he would tap out.
Dedicated to his craft, after school each day he would make it part of his day-to-day to write down a lyric and work on his songs. At age 14, he recorded his first rap song. “By Any Means Necessary.” His songs were his vice for expression. He would use the music to portray his feelings, his thoughts, and muses about the world we live in.
As his confidence built, Darius began to participate in talent shows, clubs, and festivals in both Tampa and Bartow, Florida. Darius also released two debut albums “The G-Files and Triple Threat.” While attending college at Post University in Connecticut, Darius battled the stress of trying to maintain the required grades while dealing with his music. Still not giving up on his dream, Darius continued on to recording hits like “Make a Move,” his fans took to his music like kids at a candy store. Not meeting the grade requirements at Post, Darius transferred to School of Communication Arts in Raleigh, NC. He felt he was more at home while at school learning the technical side of music production. He graduated in 2010 with an associate’s degree in Studio Engineering.
On June 30th, 2011, Darius released his first digitally distributed album entitled ‘My Future’ on nationally known online stores such as iTunes, AmazonMP3, Napster and several others. He hosted an album release party for ‘My Future’ at Evolution Records in downtown Lakeland, Florida and was mentioned in the Lakeland Ledger newspaper.
With the help of his fans, and his favorite rap artist T.I. who motivated him, Darius’ music has become more relevant and flamboyant. Darius’ ultimate goal is to create a new sound and make more music that people of all ages can relate to as well. While continuing to work on his music, he hopes to get his voice heard not only by his local community but also by the world in general.
