When asked why he doesn’t write the more aggressive, trap, or drill music more symbolic of his upbringing Rome says “My goal is to be completely authentic and help people heal through music.” Rome’s belief is that music can truly help people escape and even get past their trauma and using his gift of hearing melodies and being as creative as possible is how he plans to put healing & nostalgia back into HipHop. He, has been writing lyrics since he was in fifth grade when his older brother/cousin would visit from Boston and encourage him to put his thoughts on paper. In 2005 he was in a group home ran by a local city councilman who believed in his vision, after a brief discussion at a Foster Youth forum Rome was able to bring healing for the first time to his peers which led to meeting the governor of Hawaii and advocating for youth there.
