Bio

In the fall of 2013, and during his last year at Berklee College of Music, Kevin Basko was ready for a project that could truly push the limits of rock music. Having previously won the award of Best Male Performer in the New Jersey Acoustic Music Awards in 2012, he was ready to go back to what he loved. Making fuzzy psychadelic goodness. To create a piece that stands the test of time and shakes the foundation of the battle of fideltiy. An album that has depth, truth, and content that may not truly be understood on the first listen. But has the re-listen factor to keep the world interested and himself entertained. A piece to create the nostalgia of a time he never lived in. A sound lost in time, of the 60's and 70's where records would sound alive and with honesty. Having been a member of many popular bands in NY and Boston since he was in middle-school till his end at Berklee, he decided to become a one man band (such as Tame Impala, Foxygen, MGMT) under the moniker Rubber Band Gun. Basko started composing and recording at his small apartment in Boston to old Reel-to-reel recorders and 8-track cassettes, pushing the limits of a medium no longer popularized.  By the end of December he had written a psychedelic science fiction story pairing with a 19 song concept album that genre-jumps and shocks ears like nothing before. It emulates and expands on the sounds of The Zombies, The Animals, The Stooges, and many other groups where the raw power of the guitar driven songwriting reigns supreme. It's silly. It's like a kid with a ray gun. It's fun.

As of April 20th, RBG released Part 1 (the first half) of his 19 song space-rock opera "Horror Sounds in Stereo". It is set to be released in full in June and will get a Cassette release based out of Austin, TX. A graphic novel is also in the works to pair with the record which will be released towards the end of the year. This project, while new and in its early stages, is about to explode out onto the underground music scene as well as a touring circuit. Take a listen and follow the protagonist of the story, Bill Lasey Johns, to space and beyond to save his wife and children from the evils of the Future. Be ready to receive!
