Bio

Shannon Kealey Band performs heartfelt short stories set to a meld of folk, rock, bluegrass, blues, jazz, and pop music.

The band is led by singer/songwriter Shannon Kealey, who has been performing her original music for over 20 years. Permanent members of the band are percussionist Alison Brown (who toured with Luscious Jackson and Paula Cole, among others), Linda Kealey on backing vocals, Nathan Rahn (Shannon's husband) on drums, Mark Scrivener on lead guitar, Mark LaClair on upright and electric bass, and Jared Buckley on trumpet.

Most of the material performed by Shannon Kealey Band is original, and the covers they might throw in during a set are: a medley of Angel from Montgomery by John Prine and Can't Find My Way Home by Blind Faith; Knockin' on Heaven's Door by Bob Dylan; Fall at Your Feet by Crowded House; Making Pies by Patty Griffin; Say Something by A Great Big World; Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac.

Fans of Shannon Kealey Band have remarked:

"Sharp lyrics!"

"Radio-ready!"

"Everybody's performance is great, and the vocals are especially on point. ...not the commodified music product people are into right now."

It's no wonder Shannon became a singer/songwriter. Her mother (and current backing vocalist), Linda, performed on American Bandstand in the 1950s with the Gino Sisters and G-Notes, and her 1960s band The Youngfolk opened for The Smothers Brothers and Judy Garland and performed on TV shows such as Hullabaloo and The Danny Kaye Show. Shannon's father, Tom Kealey, is an accomplished bass player and singer/songwriter, and was a member of the band Juice Newton and Silver Spur

Shannon's songwriting style shows these influences, as well as great female singer/songwriters and performers such as Joni Mitchell, Patty Griffin, Stevie Nicks, and Bonnie Raitt.
