"New Face on Drums for Corey Brooks Band"

January 11, 2013 - With an amazing year behind them including a new album, new single release, and their first music video, the Corey Brooks Band is ready to move in to 2013. At the start of this year, the band is pleased to announce a myriad of good news.

This year is shaping up to be a busy one for the band as they have decided to go back to full-time music ministry. This is coming after a two year stint of part-time touring while the band focused on college and other local ministries. The members have worked as youth pastors, worship leaders, small group leaders, etc. during this time. With the decision to go back to full-time touring, they are not forgetting about local outreach. Corey Brooks Ministries is undertaking a youth outreach in Southern West Virginia called The Awakening, slated to begin in February 2013. The Awakening is an initiative to awaken a generation to the truth of Christ through outreach, small groups, and youth conferences that bring denominations together.

With the decision to tour full-time, the band is sad to announce that long time drummer, Daniel Pennington, will no longer be touring with CBB. Pennington has decided to step down and focus primarily on his local ministry and outreach. “He will be missed, but we are excited to see what God does through his ministry,” said Corey Brooks.

The band is excited to announce their new face on the drums, Zane England. England is a 20 year old pastor’s son who has been playing drums since he was 15. He is also Corey’s cousin. Corey said, “I am excited about bringing on my cousin into our ministry. While looking for a drummer, I never thought to look within my own family. I had forgotten that Zane even played. Then, one night while hanging out with him, I felt like God was showing me that he was our drummer. We quickly began talks and he soon after accepted the position.” TK King (guitarist) and Alec Tincher (pianist) have enjoyed meeting him and look forward to working together. King said, “It's hard to come across someone who not only has talent, but also seeks to serve The Lord. We are so blessed to have Zane on board, and I am excited to see what the future holds.” Tincher added, “He's a great guy, he has his heart set to work for The Lord, and I definitely look forward to working with him.” Zane is also a talented Christian rapper and the band is looking forward to incorporating this talent into their progressively Contemporary sound.

England states, “I got close in my walk with God when I really started to notice that everything the world had to offer was nothing compared to what God had to offer. When I found that God had much greater things in store for me, I really wanted to let other people know he had the same salvation for them.” It turns out that he will now have this opportunity to share this salvation through music with CBB. “I can’t wait to see what great things God has in store for us and I’m excited to meet the band's fans on tour,” states England.

Please keep the band and ministry in your prayers. If you would like booking info or to donate to this band's important ministry, please contact Lisa at 304.222.0017. - Corey Brooks Ministries

"COREY BROOKS BAND - NEW ALBUM - NEW GUITARIST"

Being right on the verge of their new fully Contemporary Christian album, The Corey Brooks Band is excited about even more than this new direction and new release. The band has been slowly progressing into the Contemporary scene since Corey’s solo release ‘Love Me Anyway’ in 2009. Shortly after the single went #1 Worldwide, the search was on for band members. That has all led up to this moment.

In 2008, before assembling the band, Corey was enjoying some free time in Tennessee. While there, he met T.K. King, who at the time was playing for a Contemporary Christian band. They became friends and Corey recognized his talent, drive and dedication. “I remember,” says Corey, “I was fresh out of high school and ready to jump head first into the music industry when T.K. and I first met. I still remember hanging out at his house playing Rock Band, and me showing how terrible I am at it! I knew before I left Tennessee that at some point I wanted him to be my guitar player!”

That was four years ago; since then the band is in full swing and T.K. is currently working on completing his Bachelors in Contemporary Christian music with Bryan College while helping out with the band’s new album. He is currently in Nashville, TN at the Contemporary Music Center (CMC). Because of this, he will not be performing publicly with the band until his time with the CMC is complete in April. “It’s amazing to see how God is using this band to reach people across the country and world,” says T.K. He continued, “I am really looking forward to becoming a part of that ministry. I have always felt called to tour in a band and I feel like this is a great opportunity to do that with an already established ministry.”

“We look forward to working with T.K. and including him into our band/ministry family. I have wanted to work with him for years, so I am excited to finally have that opportunity.” Corey continues, “I can’t wait to see what all God has planned for Alec, Daniel, T.K. and I in the upcoming years!”

"COREY BROOKS BAND – ARTIST ABMASSADORS FOR KIDS ALIVE INT."

Nashville, Tennessee, Oct. 31, 2011 - During the Corey Brooks Band's recent visit to Music City, USA they met with Rich Anderson of Kids Alive International. They are now the newest artist ambassadors for Kids Alive.

Kids Alive International is a Christian faith mission dedicated to rescuing orphans and vulnerable children – meeting their spiritual, physical, educational and emotional needs. Kids Alive provides children with the love and care every child deserves, and raises them to be contributing members of their society and witnesses to their family and community.

The Corey Brooks Band is excited about this new sponsorship and is already sponsoring children themselves. Between the band and their families they are already helping two children in Haiti named Wilson and Stephenson. Wilson watched his own father die during the Haiti earthquake and was sleeping under a plastic tarp before Kids Alive brought him in. He now wants to be a leader in the church! Stephenson's father was murdered and then his mother passed away. It was then discovered that his uncle was abusing him. That day he was brought to the Kids Alive home. He is now in a safe environment and doing very well. They are both loving their new life, families and learning about the Lord.

Corey Brooks Ministries is a multifaceted ministry that is preparing to enter its tenth year. The ministry is fronted by the GRAMMY eligible Corey Brooks Band. They are now working on their newest album to be released in 2012. This year they are striving to use their platform to not only impact those in attendance at concerts but also to impact as many lives around the world by this partnership and more. "Corey Brooks Band Belts Ministry of Music"

September 23, 2011
Corey Brooks Band belts ministry of music

By TAMMIE TOLER Princeton Times

PRINCETON — PRINCETON — There’s no doubt the Corey Brooks Band likes making music, but it is not the most important aspect of the ministry that has united its five young members and found a method to convey their message of faith.

“We’re a ministry that happens to have a band,” Brooks, who sings lead vocals on most of the group’s selections and founded the band, said, surrounded by the four friends who back him up on stage and in his mission to spread God’s word. “The music is just the start of it all.”

Brooks, who is a veteran musician and a youth pastor at Lerona United Methodist Church, started the band after several years as a solo artist specializing in inspirational country music.

Gradually, he was pulled to a more contemporary sound of Christian music, and the band started taking shape. Since then, the band has changed a member here and there, and its sound continues to evolve, as the musicians find new ways to work together for the greater good of the group and their message.

“Daniel was the first one we brought on board,” Brooks said, pointing to Pennington, who plays percussion. “We needed somebody to play drums.”

Although somewhat experienced as a percussionist, Pennington later informed Brooks that he “hadn’t drummed in years,” but the two musicians took a chance on each other, and their partnership clicked.

“He played his first concert and hadn’t even been to practice,” Brooks said.

Caleb Bolen, who plays electric guitar, found his way to the band in a round-about way. A friend of his testified at Brooks’ church, and the two began talking. Eventually, word got back to Bolen that the Corey Brooks Band needed an electric guitarist, and Bolen added his name to the group.

The band’s acoustic guitarist, Skyler Burgess, was in attendance when the Corey Brooks Band played a show at Shawnee Baptist Church.

“We all prayed together, and he said, ‘You know, I play guitar,’” Brooks recalled.

“Lightbulb!” Bolen said.

“Yeah. It was one of those lightbulb moments,” Brooks said.

The members of the band then spent some time together at the place where they say most of their “magic happens” — Starbucks. After some time talking, evaluating their beliefs on faith and Christian music, and, of course, a few cups of caffeine, Burgess joined the ranks.

Alec Tincher, a keyboard player, has been playing with the band for about six months, but he only became an official member Tuesday, just in time for an upcoming round of shows and an eagerly anticipated trip to Nashville, Tenn., where the Corey Brooks Band is in Top Five running for Inspirational Country Music’s Vocal Group of the Year and Evangelist of the Year — honors that came as a total surprise since the bandmates have grown away from Brooks’ country roots.

“It was definitely a blessing, because we didn’t do anything to earn it. This was all God’s plan,” Brooks said, laughing at this good fortune he clearly can’t explain otherwise.

The band specializes in original music, but they know there are classics they have to cover during many shows and altar calls as they visit churches.

Although their joyful, upbeat brand of praise is always closely tied to the message of faithful salvation and God’s grace, their message crosses denominational lines. Most of the members come from different denomination and various backgrounds, but they share a belief greater than the name of a single church.

“Somebody said at one of our concerts that we’re the non-denomination generation, and that’s what we want our music to be. We don’t want to appeal to just the Methodists, or the Baptists, or the Pentecostals. We want everybody to enjoy it and get something out of it,” Pennington said. “This band has an awesome way of showing that Jesus is the answer, no matter how you learn about him.”

The band recently completed a five-week tour, where members performed a series of shows and took searched for clues to help in planning discipleship camps in the future.

They enjoyed a trip to Six Flags in Texas, along with a rousing game of mattress surfing that left Pennington with a nasty bruise on his back. New Mexico’s stop put the band in a position to work with a Louisiana ministry geared toward Navaho children.

There, Burgess made a new friend not yet old enough to sing along to his music.

“His name was Avery. He was just this little baby boy who wouldn’t stop crying. All the girls at the camp had held him, and nothing they did made a difference. So, they handed him to me, and he stopped crying,” Burgess said.

“The rest of his time there, he was on Avery watch,” Brooks finished.

In Iowa, Bolen and Pennington were touched when they saw a woman gain her sight after a lifetime shrouded in blindness.

“We played at Spirit Midwest. We’re up there playing, and Lisa was like, ‘Guys, did you see that?’ A lady, who had been blind her w - Tammie Toler Princeton Times

"Reference #2 - Corey Brooks Band"

GSW STORM DOME AMERICUS, GA

We have known Corey Brooks and his family for a few years now. The first time we saw him perform was as a solo artist in a small rural church in South Georgia. Within the next year, he had formed the Corey Brooks Band and we had the band perform for our second annual “FIRED UP” Christian Youth Rally in Americus, GA.

The band was a ‘big hit’ with the youth! Besides having the band as one of the headliners, he spent time with the audience and was very personable, which to me says a lot of a performer.

On a personal note, Corey believes in what he is doing and does an outstanding job! I was so impressed with how much he had “grown” since the first time I saw him perform. He is well-spoken and mature for his age, an awesome performer on-stage and a great person off-stage.

We are looking forward to having him and the band back this year for Fired Up 2011. I would highly recommend the Corey Brooks Band to anyone, especially those seeking to get God’s word out! If you have questions, I can be reached at 229-886-7799.

"Reference #1 - Corey Brooks Band"

I was privileged to have the Corey Brooks Band perform at my event last year. This was our first year hosting the event and I can honestly say the event might not have happened at all if it wasn’t for this band. They were very easy to work with and they went way out of their way to help our event. This was all before the event had even started. During the event, they had an outstanding performance. I heard nothing but good things when getting feedback after the event. They are not only excellent performers. They also bring a very positive message that everyone needs to hear, to help them in their every day lives. Since running this festival, I have had a chance to speak with numerous groups about performing. The Corey Books Band was by far the easiest and most helpful group to work with. I highly recommend the Corey Brooks Band.

"Corey Brooks Band: Damascus Road Review"

Damascus Road from the Corey Brooks Band contains a unique sound -- an interesting mix between gospel and contemporary. With a voice that sounds similar to Michael W. Smith, Corey Brooks and his band offer a modern bluegrass-style album full of inspirational lyrics.

Damascus Road begins with “What Are You Looking For?” This track is written to someone searching for love, and answers, “He is the answer/ He is the Savior.” “Chief of These” follows, being a bit on the slower side of things. Beginning with a gorgeous piano mixed with a strong bass guitar sound, it speaks of how each of us has crucified Jesus for ourselves, and that each of us are “the chief of sinners.” (“Every time I sin/ I nail You down/ but You rose again…”)

“Beautiful” is a great song, containing the much-loved gospel feel. I thought it was interesting how Corey began both verses singing very low, and then putting it up an octave by the arrival of the second half of the verse. The point of “Beautiful” is the beautiful ways of God, and how we really need Him at every moment of every day. “Falling Away” begins with only drums, and then progresses, making it feel like a Casting Crowns song. It is a prayer to God to rescue us when we fall away from Him through our sin. This track was one of the highlights of the entire album, in my opinion.

“Wake Up” sounds like an upbeat, country version of Britt Nicole’s hit “Walk On the Water,” and speaks of shining your light to the world: “This is your chance to change the world/ it’s time to show them who you are/ all by yourself you’ll go nowhere/ but with Him, you’ll go far/ this is your chance to change the world/ so wake up/ what are you waiting for?” I particularly enjoyed the inspiring lyrics to this track. “Wall of Shame” is obviously mostly composed of piano and strings, and is a cry to God to forgive us and not judge us for the things for which we have repented of.

“Faith Speaks Louder” speeds up just a touch, again adding the country guitars. It asks the question, “Tell me what on earth am I here for?” and answers the question with the fact that when everything is going wrong, faith speaks louder. “Reprise” is a very cool one-minute instrumental, filled with harmonicas, country guitars, blues, and the works. :) It was definitely a nice addition to an already good album.

“I’m Not Strong Enough” is a slower track that speaks of how weak we are in ourselves. The highlight of this track was definitely the bridge: “I’m not strong enough/ but You are Lord!” This track was very encouraging, and soul penetrating. “All I Really Am,” speaks of how each of us has a desire to live our lives to the fullest in God’s will, but we do not live the way we want to. But then when we surrender our lives to God, we realize “that this life is not my home”: “The more I seek/ the more I find/ my heart’s desire.”

Damascus Road ends peacefully with “Only You,” a song of praise for all that God has given us and has done for us. The highlight was the bridge, where the hardly audible background “Hallelujah” provokes the listener to sing along. It seemed to sum up the album perfectly, being a mix of country/contemporary.

Damascus Road was a very enjoyable listening experience. Never before have I heard a contemporary/gospel mix like I have heard in the Corey Brooks Band. Certain songs have a perfect blend of gospel and blues that make each song completely unpredictable. If you’re looking for something new to listen to, you will probably want to check out Corey Brooks Band’s album Damascus Road!

The Corey Brooks Band is now Spoken For.

Spoken For biography coming soon!

The Corey Brooks Band is a Contemporary Christian band marked by a refreshing clarity in their music with a sense of honesty and purpose in their songwriting. The group is led by C and L Entertainments multi-award winning singer/songwriter Corey Brooks. Brooks formed the band in late 2009 after four albums and a seven year stint as a soloist. Galatians 6:9 says, Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up," and thats exactly what Brooks did, he never gave up. With transitions in the band along the way, the music steadily became more of what he had envisioned. With a solid and dedicated drummer and talented rapper - Zane England, a professionally trained guitarist and lyricist - T.K. King, and a trained piano player with a classical touch - Alec Tincher, the Corey Brooks Band became more than just a few musicians; it became a family.

Brooks is no stranger to the world of Christian music. He was introduced to the scene in 2002 as a soloist/songwriter. He has performed and opened for many well-known artists. By 2006, God had moved him into the lime light with a GMA Dove award nomination and blessed him with a win at the ICM Awards for New Artist of the Year. In 2008, he garnished his first number 1 song overseas with Real Life. In 2009, he was nominated for ICM Music Evangelist, made the qualification list for the GRAMMYS, and his song Love Me Anyway climbed its way to number 1 overseas and was his first number 1 release in the US.

In 2010 the bands first album Damascus Road made the qualification list for the GRAMMYS and the GMA Dove awards, while the band themselves were nominated for ICM Group of the Year. They were asked to present on the ICM Awards and the Visionary Award shows that aired on national television. To show their support of the charity Soles4Souls, the guys walked the carpet barefoot at the ICM Awards, and also presented an award shoe-less. They did this to raise awareness for the over 300 million children in the world that aren't fortunate enough to afford shoes, something that most people take for granted.

Since the formation of the band, they have played at numerous fairs, festivals and arenas including; Ichthus, Spirit Midwest, Strength Fest, Six Flags Over Texas, and the Georgia Southwestern University Dome. The band is on the road full time traveling all areas of the USA around 250 days a year. Many doors have opened opportunities for the band to share the stage with acts that span all genres of Christian music such as, Matthew West, Manafest, KJ-52, Ashes Remain, Oswald Brother Band, and Sidewalk Prophets, Later this year they are scheduled to appear with American Idol finalist, Colton Dixon.

The newest album Take Over The World released in May 2012. This album marks a clear direction for the band in the field of Contemporary Christian music as well as their clear stand in worldwide ministry. With a focus on ministry opportunities here in the USA the band hopes to encourage those who feel they can't make a worldwide difference to do something outside of the four church walls in their own communities. The album's first release I Beg You, climbed to number 1 on overseas and USA charts and warranted the band's first ever video release.

Writing is currently in process for the band's first book, The Struggle. The Struggle is an honest devotion book for young men about temptation, sexual purity and addictions. The band longs to help others who are in the midst of The Struggle by ending the silence that so often accompanies these types of issues. Corey says, "The church has been silent about these topics for far to long. We feel that it is part of our calling to use our platform to help others find hope, peace, and accountability."

Corey, Alec, T.K., and Zane each have a testimony that bears out a personal relationship with Jesus. Their desire is to make an eternal difference in peoples lives by using their own. From their servant attitude, energetic playing, and anointed lyrics, these highly committed and unbelievably talented musicians fuse together to form a Christian band in every aspect. They do not apologize for keeping Jesus in the forefront.
