So it’s no surprise to anyone who knows her – who have been asking for years, “Why aren’t you putting stuff out?” – that she has just officially released her first solo album, “Straight to the Middle.” Narrowed down to nine songs from the hundreds that she has written over the years, including at her kitchen table in her Montclair home, the album is a folksy/alt-country reflection on life, love, and twists of fate. The record aims to explore the emotions that connect us through storytelling. - Baristanet
Thiel chose “You and I” — originally released on her 2019 album, Straight to the Middle — to perform for NJArts.net’s Songs to See Us Through series, created in response to the coronavirus crisis. Due to social distancing, a lot of couples, of course, are spending more time together than they have for years or even decades — cocooned together, away from the rest of the world. - NJArts

Bio
Americana, alt. country, singer songwriter Stacia Thiel is a classically trained opera singer, born and raised in rural Wisconsin into a family of musicals on an eclectic mix of Dixieland Jazz, 70's rock, and Barbershop harmonies “Whether it was perched on my rooftop as a teen or balanced on my fire escape in Hell’s Kitchen,” says Stacia, “I’ve always needed to find a space where I can explore the world through songwriting.”
After a move from New York City to the suburbs of NJ, Stacia found herself writing at the kitchen table, late at night against the sweet silence of suburbia. As the songs accumulated, she longed to cut a solo record. A chance meeting led her to producer Scott E. Moore and a dream team was assembled to record at Kaleidoscope Sound including; Dan Rieser (Norah Jones ’Come Away with Me’) and Kim Rosen (Aimee Mann ‘Mental Illness’).
Whether solo or with her full band (guitar, lap-steel, upright bass, drums) Singer-Songwriter Stacia Thiel draws from Americana, country and folk elements with a sound that feels fresh. Think Gillian Welch meets Sarah Bareilles meets Bonnie Raitt. With powerful vocals, soaring melody lines and sharp witted lyrics Stacia's original music is capitvating. Stacia's single, 'Sunny Days' from her solo album 'Straight to the Middle' broke into the Top Ten of Roots Music Report's Americana Song Chart! The album broke into the Top Twenty!
Depending on the eve, Stacia can be found performing as the featured artist with her band at the Glen Ridge Singer Songwriter Series, The Folk Project NJ and Opening for Headliners like Crys Matthews at Outpost in the Burbs in Montclair, NJ.
Stacia also holds a masters degree in social work and is grateful to be able to put her love of music to work for organizations and causes she feels passionate about. Most recently she was the featured musical artist at the fundraiser for FSL: SAVE (Sexual Assault and Violence Education) of Montclair, NJ and was a guest performer for Unitas (united to fight against human trafficking) in NYC.
