"Houndmouth stop by Norfolk, Virignia on their 'This Party' tour"

“Opening for Houndmouth was the local band 'Starcoast' whose unrefined, rock all-out sound was a major hit with the enthusiastic crowd who screamed for an encore. Unfortunately, the show had to continue and the fiery band sidled offstage.” - Audiolove

"Cinco de Mayo is New Album Day for two Hampton Roads bands"

“Starcoast’s wholesome indie songs sparkle like the unexpected meteor shower the band saw on the Virginia Beach coastline the night after recording demos in [2014].”

“Orange, pink and hopeful, the sunrise gracing the EP’s cover represents a new beginning for the band with a stable lineup and higher production quality, Hunter said. He said it was time to record something that showed the group’s newfound ‘heightened sense of ambition.’ ”

“They hooked up with Alex Morton at his horse barn-turned-studio in Zuni, Va., and had a Cleveland-based sound engineer with major league experience, Adam Boose, master the tracks.” - The Virginian Pilot

Bio

Inspired by a meteor shower from a late night beach walk in their hometown of Virginia Beach, “Starcoast” was born. Beginning as a small home studio project, brothers Tom and Jim Hunter released 3 self-recorded demos, garnering them enough local support to play venues like 1,500 capacity hotspot "The NorVa”. After securing their lineup with drummer David Johns at the start of 2019, Starcoast transformed from a late night creative outlet into a power packed 3-piece rock band, ready to go wherever their music takes them.

Headed to the studio, they recorded what would become their debut EP “Glow” with Alex Morton at his refinished horse barn recording space in the rural plains of Zuni, VA. The five tracks are reimagined versions of the strongest songs from the Hunter brothers’ original demos. Followup singles were then recorded at the band’s own home studio in Virginia Beach, VA to create a body of work truly representative of where they’ve been and where they’re headed next.

The band takes a unique approach to their sound, blending shimmering, washed out guitars with a rock driven percussive backbone, compelling bass grooves, and impassioned yet simple vocal lines that anyone can sing along to. All songs are driven with the intent of spreading nothing more than love and good music to those who are open to receiving it.

Starcoast is Tom Hunter (vocals/guitar), Jim Hunter (bass/vocals), and David Johns (drums/vocals).
