Bio

Stay Gypsy is a Denver, Colorado based original band that forges their sound from the classic rock of the 70’s and 80’s mixed with the raw emotion of the 90’s grunge movement and the modern sounds of today’s alternative rock. This creates a unique rock sub genre that can only be described as Ether Rock. And so the Legend goes...1970- Steven Tyler discovers the fountain of youth behind a dumpster in an alley way in Boston. The fountain had taken the form of a glowing absinthe soaked joint. Tyler immediately recognized what the joint could do. He took a couple hits to ensure the power of the magical glowing doob...it was the strongest most potent thing Tyler had ever felt. After a steady 3 mins of coughing he put it out and into his coat pocket...only to immediately forget about it.1971- After a gig with his up and coming band, Tyler goes out for a smoke, but realizes he must have picked up the wrong coat. It looked identical to his but had “Blake Bones” written on the right shoulder in sharpie.Meanwhile another aspiring front man was ordering a lettuce and tomato burger at Sullivan’s, when he realized he had someone else’s coat on. He figured he must have picked up the wrong coat at the show he was just at. He was extremely disappointed to have lost his favorite coat, until he checked the pockets, he found a glowing joint that somehow magically smelled of both princess juice and Mt. Everest. He took a couple hits and paaaassssssed out…….for 12 years.1983- Blake Bones wakes up the same age as he was when he hit that magical joint 12 years before, he wakes up at the Fiesta Lounge in Hollywood. He is immediately drawn outside to the sound of a thumping acoustic bass. He meets Matt outside who quickly informs Blake that “the sounds ain’t free” and that he’s busking for weed money. Blake is mesmerized by the funky yet soulful sounds coming from Matt’s bass, so he offers him a hit of the magical joint that brought him there. Matt gladly accepts.1990- Blake and Matt come to in Olympia, Washington, completely out of it and super HIGH. They wake up in front of The North Shore Surf Club, right in front of the bouncer guarding the door, who does not seem too accepting of the two groggy stoners, and promptly kicks their asses. Blake and Matt both felt that the punches flying in from this mysterious bouncer were extremely rhythmic, like in time to a super human level. The bouncer dragged Blake and Matt across the street. Blake quickly has an idea of how to get out of this situation, he pulls out the magical joint and offers it to the bouncer. The bouncer’s love for weed quickly spurred a change of heart, he introduced himself as Stew the Smasher (Matt and Blake immediately informed him that he should drop “the Smasher” part). The three sat on the corner and shared the rest of the magical, Mt. Everest, princess juice smelling joint.2019- The three awaken in a local Denver, Colorado studio, Stew laying behind a drum kit, Matt with Bass in hand, and Blake with a microphone wrapped around his head. Without question or a second thought the three stand up and begin what can only be described as destiny.
