We aren’t in the 70s anymore, so it’s not common to find a piece of catchy and amazing music often. I was thrilled when I listened to Takeover‘ Sleeping With Strangers as I felt it could be like a rock revival. And that was my motive to chat with the guys. Let’s get started. - Rock Era Magazine

In August, the New York-based 5-piece group Takeover released their latest single, “Sleeping With Strangers,” which proved to be a fantastic rock revival. Influenced by several beloved icons like The Velvet Underground, The Ramones, and The Strokes, among many others, Takeover’s music is invigorating and exciting.

Starting off with a distorted guitar tone, “Sleeping With Strangers” had all the makings of a typical rock song. However, the first 30 seconds transport the listener back two or three decades, creating an impressive and unforgettable experience.......... - Rock Era Magazine

I don't mind American punk, but so much of it sounds like Blink-182-esque pop-punk that it could all be shoved in the same bottle and labelled 'fizzy pop punk'. As we all know, too much of that processed stuff can make you feel a bit queasy. Thankfully, New York City, 5-piece, rock 'n' rollers, Takeover, have smashed the bottle to provide Plastic 40s something a bit more like European punk. Clattering drums, snarling vocals, raucous guitar - it is much better than most punk submissions we get from across the pond. - Greenbananaworld

If you missed the waves which NYC artist Takeover made this year with their sunny, eccentric EP “Starr Street”, it’s our pleasure to introduce the vibrantly melodic feat of Alt Rock.

The first track “Picturesque” is the perfect introduction to their angsty romantic edge. If you could imagine what the Beach Boys would sound like if they put more scuzz on their guitars and more bite behind their vocals, you’d get a good idea of what’s on offer.

There’s also a slight hint of 00s Emo Rock to Picturesque, but make no mistakes, Takeover is a band who carry a serious stylistic nuanced sound despite the slightly rough Garage Rock tonality. It’s a genre smorgasbord which you’re definitely going to want to sink your teeth into.

Takeover’s new EP titled Peak of Her Power is out now! Peak of Her Power is a 3 song EP with a life loving vibe attached to it. Takeover’s EP has an explosive usage of music from the strumming of their guitars to the beat from the drums. “These are songs built and constructed at our rehearsal space on 8th avenue in Midtown. They have this certain energy about them and that was done on purpose. We write songs with a live audience in mind, so if a song won’t get the room going on a Saturday night, we most likely will shelve it. These 3 songs on Peak Of Her Power were written about being alive in your 20s and loving every second of it. The optimism of youth, the beauty of falling in and out of love, and the hedonistic excesses of feeling alive.”
