"You’re About To Be “Stuck” On The Aces"

If John Hughes made a movie today with Sofia Coppola, surely The Aces would be leading its soundtrack. Hailing from Utah, The Aces are all girl, all rock, with just the right amount of pop to keep things cheeky. “Stuck” is their debut single.

Right off the bat, “Stuck” bops to a bouncing guitar line that tips a hat to West Coast cool, brimming with youthful wonder. There’s nostalgia packed into “Stuck,” too. It sounds like your ideal prom night song: easy to sway to, easy to dance with another to. It has all the markings of a stellar debut: catchy without being an earworm and a refreshingly different sound from the often cookie-cutter hits that dominate the charts. It’s a debut akin to The 1975′s, and hey, look where those boys are now. But, more importantly, and with all comparisons aside, it’s fun—unpretentious, dreamy fun. And that’s all you can really ask for in a debut. It’s only up from here. - NYLON

"Red Bull has a record label, and it just signed Provo's The Aces"

"Red Bull gives you wings," as the energy drink company's slogan goes. As it turns it out, Red Bull also has its own record label. Provo band The Aces is hoping that slogan applies to them, too.

The Aces have signed a contract with Red Bull Records, it was announced Friday morning. The signing comes on the heels of the band's latest single, "Stuck," which gained major traction over the summer through mentions on BuzzFeed and Nylon, as well as the song's inclusion on a number of popular Spotify playlists. (The song currently has nearly 1 million streams on Spotify.)

Band members Cristal Ramirez, Katie Henderson, McKenna Petty and Alisa Ramirez have been playing together since their early teenage years, and gained a sizable local following under the moniker The Blue Aces, playing the popular Rooftop Concert Series multiple years.

Red Bull Records is based in Hollywood and launched in 2007. Most of the acts on Red Bull Records are mid-level, indie-type bands. The label, however, does have a heavy hitter in electronic rock band AWOLNATION, which has had multiple high-charting singles such as "Sail" and "Burn It Down" and currently has more than a million followers on Facebook. - Daily Herald

"57 New Songs You Need In Your Life This Month"

1. Utah-based band The Aces’ dreamy, femme “Stuck.” - Buzzfeed

"The Aces - Stuck"

The Aces are a four piece band from Utah, self-described as “four girls about to rule the world.” So far, we have no reason to doubt them. Composed of Cristal Ramirez on lead vocal and guitar, Katie Henderson on lead guitar, McKenna Petty on bass and Alisa Ramirez on drums, the group has a classic rock band lineup. Their debut single, “Stuck” has a driving beat, and Henderson’s deft guitar lends an ethereal tug that drives it towards catharsis.

The music video, featuring dancer Kausha Campbell, also from Utah, is a dreamlike dancehall scene with a timelessness reinforced by Campbell’s beehive hairdo and the needle of a record player which kicks off the sound. Campbell, as the dancer, serves more as an expression of the music than as a star; all of the band members also get equal screen time. The video begins in a suburban home with a shelf full of vinyl records and a teal carpeting, evolves into a club scene, and then returns to its origins. The things you can do with lighting.

“We talk, talk till we’re blue in the face / The words, words don’t resonate… Holding on to things we said we would change.” Much like the frustrating and withholding lover who is inflicting this confusion, the entire video retains a certain aura of mystery. The Aces seem to have a knack for giving just enough to keep us wanting more. - Euphoria

"The Aces’ “Stuck” Video Is A Shimmery ’70s Flashback: Premiere"

Female pop/rockers The Aces seemingly came out of nowhere to cause a stir with debut single “Stuck,” a breezy anthem that falls somewhere between Haim and Kita Alexander (with a splash of Tegan and Sara’s retro-synth magic). The Utah-based four-piece drop the visual today and it’s an homage, of sorts, to the lead singer and drummer’s mom. “The video for ‘Stuck’ was inspired by a piece of art we had made by a local artist after hearing the song,” Cristal and Alisa Ramirez explain.

“The artwork [below] is bright and surreal, it incorporates an old photo of our mom dancing at a party, a carefree young adult in the ’70s. We wanted to bring that vibe to life through the video by combining a vintage house setting with crazy lighting and effects to bring a dreamy surreal feeling to the video; while having a dancer dressed to play the role of our mom, who rocks out to the up beat jam at home alone while fantasizing that the band is there rocking out with her.” We’re excited to premiere the band’s first clip up top. - Idolator
