Will "George" Gaines-lead vocals/bass, Lamar Gaines-keys, Buddy Banks-drums
George Gaines and the Cliniq are a trio of musicians from Cleveland, Ohio. It started at the Cleveland School of the Arts with Will & Lamar Gaines, known as the Gaines Brothers (Bass & Keys). Later they met Buddy Banks (Drums) and a powerhouse was born. The trio played various venues and clubs in Northeast Ohio. In 2009 they relocated to Phoenix, AZ and the trio along with saxophonist Jermaine Lockhart released debut album Unlimited in 2014. Frontman Will "George" Gaines also released his debut solo project The Pursuit of Happiness the same year. Will "George" Gaines and Lamar Gaines currently tour with Paul Taylor and Marion Meadows and The Black Pearl Band.The group divides their live shows and recording time between Los Angeles, Phoenix and Denver and will release their untitled sophomore album Early 2017.
The music of George Gaines and the Cliniq is deeply rooted in jazz and soul. Their influences range from Weather Report, Miles Davis, and The Yellow Jackets to Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Kirk Whalum, Tony Williams, Chris Dave, Marcus Miller and Paul Chambers. Performing and producing jazz and soul music is not the only thing these musicians do. George Gaines and the Cliniq wear many hats in writing, arranging, audio engineering, audio production, custom sound designing and more. You can catch these players performing alternative, country, r&b, hip hop, top 40, salsa/cumbia, gospel nationwide. George Gaines and the Cliniq's sophomore project and re-branding promises even more excellence and excitement in music with a continued dedication to the mastery of their art form.
