"Low Doses Interview"

In the short time they’ve been together, Low Doses have already molded a unique sound for themselves. It’s like they’ve taken hardy bites of New York’s heroin smeared, tight leather jacketed rock n’ roll swagger from the Thunders/Bators/Vincent class of the late ‘70’s, popped pills crammed with mid ‘60’s UK mod/beat like early Who and Small Faces and chased those pills with a shot of American garage frenzy similar to The Sonics. The songs have a foundation poured with unforgettable melodies that quickly set in your brain; they’re framed in thick, sturdy guitar chords and coated with zesty tempos that command your attention. These East Coast city dwellers effortlessly blur the lines of garage and power-pop, and they’re just getting started on us!

Bio

Born of boredom, the Low Doses formed in the winter of 2013 in Hamilton, NJ when high school friends and former band mates Ryan Masterson and Vin Russoniello reconnected and decided to start playing music as a way to fight off a mutual case of late-20's malaise. Initially getting together just to make noise and throw off steam during informal weekend jam sessions, the two quickly began to amass a diverse collection of tightly constructed songs penned by Masterson. While they defy a simple genre specification, Masterson's songs - which range from to rough and ready rock and roll to power-pop to psych-inflected garage rock - are all united in their propulsive energy and sense of urgency.

Within a few months, after crafting some jangly, home recorded demos, the duo deemed itself ready to hit the stage, recruiting another hometown kid, bassist Joi La Cour (ex Livids), to round out the lineup. With the added muscle of La Cour's bass playing, the Doses recorded a new batch of songs that introduced an element of 70's grit to their ever evolving sound. Their backbone bolstered, the trio began delivering explosive live sets throughout New York, New Jersey, and Pennslyvania in early 2014, never failing to leave an impression on their audience. Their songs are uniformly uptempo and catchy, and the band delights in making their live show loud, raucous, and impossible to ignore.

As 2015 rolls on, the band plans to continue to hone its live act and to begin work on its debut LP. Most importantly, as a band formed to stave off boredom, the Low Doses plan to continue to have fun.
