"The Kidney Stones"

"What a strange beast is this local punk outfit. Featuring an outrageous, absurdist gothic-horror aesthetic and a sound that matches accordion and tin whistle with zombified lyrics and a tempo ranging from stoned to agitated. The Kidney Stones are like walking into an Irish bar in the middle of the desert only to find that the regulars sip pints of urine and snack on entrails. The Kidney Stones might rip you apart, but at least you'll be the center of attention at the party of your soon-to-be-short life. Just make sure they play you out with the excellent horny pirate jaunt;Panty Shanty.; That's the way to go." - Orlando Weekly

Bio

The Kidney Stones set sail in 2006 for an impromptu St. Paddy's gig filled with traditional Irish covers they learned the night before the show. With the addition of Joe Laflamme on bass and Joel Ingram on drums the following year, the band began writing original material.

Heavier, up-tempo chanties like "Damsel" and "Eruption Destruction" were released in 2009 on their first full length record, "Raise 'Em Up."

The band's sound can best be described as ''Pirate Punk soaked in Guinness'' yet their progression over the last few years spans a collection of different genres. The adventurous melodies and unexpected tempo changes are overlayed with a unique brand of storytelling that pulls you in closer each song.

With their latest release, "Tales & Anecdotes for the Slightly Deranged," The Kidney Stones have arrived at a destination more lurid than their previous release. Themes like mental illness, war, and a night out drinking gone terribly wrong cast a darker veil over this record than the former. Despite the edgier feel, "Tales & Anecdotes..." still makes you want to hoist up a beer and sing along with the entire bar (true to The Kidney Stones' greatest asset...their live show!).

They've enlisted the help of Dayari Ingram on violin, who provides a torrent of fiddling fire to the band's latest work. Her lead lines on "Barrel" and "Devil's Den" perfectly outline these bouncy, eastern-European-type tunes.

"Tales & Anecdotes..." will make you want to round up your mates and embark on an epic quest in songs like "Fall of Lindisfarne" and "Mutiny of the Gilded Flame."

The Kidney Stones also maintain some of their Irish-shuffle roots in "Drunk N' Hungry" and the fantastically-covered traditional, "All For Me Grog" that gets the whole bar dancing.

No matter where The Kidney Stones are playing this weekend, a party is sure to follow!
