The Voxes

The Los Angeles band is making its premiere.
The indie/alternative rock band from the San Fernando Valley in San Francisco, California brings us their EP No Vacancy , available on all platforms starting today. This material pushes the limits of their sound while staying true to their indie and alternative roots where we also find sounds that seem to flirt with funk, solid drums and processed vocals to give a slightly robotic sound.

No Vacancy is presented as the band's second full-length album after the release of their Love, There EP in 2017 and multiple singles released between 2017 and 2023.

As a preview of the album, last Wednesday, September 27, they released “Stranger,” a preview of what this new album material would be, where they recount the experience of having a surreal date in LA where strange things happen. This song was released along with a lyric video directed by Evan Lopez where we see a boy being wrapped in the hands of many people while he is blindfolded.

In addition to this, No Vacancy was released with the video for “Midnight”, the second single from the ep, and was directed by Devonte Johnson.

For the presentation of this material The Voxes organized a showcase at the Knitting Factory North Hollywood with the support of local bands Tetra Collective, Ear Ringers and the DJ Sets of Bleu Hour and Apollo Naps for next October 6 where the first 15 Fans arriving at the event would be able to receive a free t-shirt from the band. - Indie Rocks!

A total work of art, there is no other way to describe this new EP that is being released by the Los Angeles band, The Voxes , who have surprised us with their unmatched way of composing and creating atmospheres beyond everyday reality, and listening to The Voxes is a true sonic adventure where you feel different things the longer the chords and synthesizers adorn the songs.

Without a doubt this band is on the right path, you can see the desire to continue creating and the need that The Voxes has to reach a destination of midnight and sunsets that paint their art.

Our favorite song on the album is "Stranger" and the fact is that at the entrance of the first guitar along with the drums and the other instruments, it is a phenomenal thing that catches you from the first second, once the voice is part of the whole, this song takes a direction in which it is difficult to detach yourself. Los Angeles-based indie rock outfit The Voxes — Joseph Faundez (vocals), Adrian Jardines (guitar), Brian Lopez (guitar), Alec Pereda (bass) and John Toledo (drums) — formed back in 2013. And since their formation, the Los Angeles-based outfit have developed a sound that draws from 2000s indie rock and 2010s indie pop rock paired with energetic guitar melodies, lush harmonies and introspective lyrics.

Their full-length debut, 2021’s Closer Than Ever showcase the band’s growth as songwriters, with the album’s material featuring anthemic rock songs and introspective ballads.

The band’s follow-up EP is slated for release this summer, and it reportedly sees the Los Angeles-based outfit pushing the boundaries of their sound while staying true to their indie roots. The forthcoming EP’s first single, the Jose Cruz and Evan Lopez-produced “Midnight,” not only serves as a taste of what to expect from the new release; it’s also the first bit of new material from The Voxes since their full-length debut. Built around glistening synths, a sinuous bass line, angular bursts of guitar paired with yearning vocals and the band’s uncanny knack for catchy hooks. At its core, the song captures the sense of joy, good times, and possibility of something extraordinary happening just around midnight while hanging out with your friends. And the song does so while sounding as though it could have been released back in 1984.

“This song came to me out of the blue while sitting at the grand piano,” the band’s Brian Lopez explains. “Despite not being a proficient pianist, the chords flowed naturally. It came alive when John wrote that funky bass line.” - WILLIAM RUBEN HELMS- Joy of Movement
