Timbers, a Kansas City folk-rock band with a deliberately handcrafted sound, has found a way to reconcile its homespun sensibility with the digital age. Timbers will sell laser-engraved wooden discs that come with digital download codes at the release party for its five-song EP at the Westport Saloon. The self-titled effort reveals Timbers’ subtle shift from a straightforward stomp-and-shout folk approach to a form of sincere rock in the vein of Son Volt. With the Country Duo, Cowtown Country Club and the Bob Kamler Band.

The mid-February Kansas City Folk Festival seems like a distant memory now, but if you’re missing those warm, acoustic, folky, Americana sounds this show is for you. Also, it’s FREE. Westport Saloon hosts great music every night and it’s always free.
This show is special, in that it’s the album release show for Timbers. They stopped by The Bridge recently and we got the chance to sit down and talk with them about their new album, their love of whiskey and a bunch of other silly stories as well. They’ve created a special wooden trinket to give away at the show for folks who buy their album. Also, as I mentioned earlier, Boulevardia announced their lineup last week and Timbers is on the bill, playing there on Saturday, June 16. And oh yeah, I really like the album.

Timbers is Aaron Mitchum, Devon Teran, Riley Taylor and Nate Lewis.
Their uplifting music has been capturing the attention of Kansas City
audiences since 2013. Playing a harmony of rock and roll, country and
soul, it's the kind of songwriting that is simultaneously familiar and
fresh.
Timbers has performed on The Ink Stage for the Plaza Art
Fair, Boulevardia, PorchFest, Middle of the Map, and Hallmarket. The
band has also appeared at Westport Saloon, The Rino, The Roxy, The
Brick, Record Bar, Uptown Theatre, Davey's Uptown and Ramblers Club,
O’Malley’s, The Tankroom, Riot Room, RJ's Bob-Be-Que Shack, many private
events across the metro area, live in studio on KKFI and promoted on
The Bridge's Eight One Sixty show.
