Today, we bring to you an artist who has a very unique sonic sound. He specializes in blending multiple genres that ultimately make up the distinct sounds that he’s known for today. His new single “Run Away” showcases just how talented and gifted this young man is. Introducing, Vampyr Riel.

Can you tell us more about you latest single “Run Away?”
RUN AWAY” is a mix of feelings cultivated over the past 2 years. Mainly me feeling unappreciated and betrayed by those i once considered friends and family. It put me in a dark spot. I secluded myself and would push others away to avoid being hurt.
Did any events in particular inspire you to write this song?
Yes. Heartbreak from an ex and betrayal from my fans inspired this song.
Any plans to release a video for the new single?
Yes, visuals will come in due time. S/O BinoVision.
How was the writing and recording process?
Fairly Quick, I found the beat on soundcloud, wrote the lyrics in like 10 minutes and recorded and mixed it myself.
What role does Milwaukee play in your music?
Seeing Milwaukee artists working together and building is what’s the most influential thing. It keeps me hungry.
Known for blending genres, how do you go about balancing together?
You just can’t do too much. If it’s forced it’s going to sound like trash to the listener. But at the same time you don’t want to do too little. Besides that there’s no rules.
Does this release mean we can expect new material ? How’s that coming along?
Yes, new material is coming soon! October is going to be one hell of a month.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Dystopia. I’m dropping that for The Daywalkers on October 12th.
Any plans to hit the road?
I want to give the world some consistent material before i hit the road. There’s nothing more exhilarating than a Vampyr Riel show.
What else is happening in the world of Vampyr Riel?
I’ll keep my head down and keep working. I’m coming for all the people that ever doubted me and anybody that did me wrong. It’s hunting season.

Gabriel Lee Matthews, known professionally as Vampyr Riel, is an independent Recording Artist from Madison, WI. Riel uses a different range of sounds to express the darker side of mental illness. Speaking on his own anxiety, depression, and heartbreak, Riel aims to relate with others so that listeners, as well as himself, can feel less alone.
