"Book's Music Reviews: Done it All"

With the cowbells sourced from Kool & The Gang‘s “Jungle Jazz”, you can’t lose, and this song by Yinka Diz is a winner. It’s a nice hip-hop track with a respectable soul balance that doesn’t overwhelm or class, which in my book means, well, a winner. Listen and enjoy.

Yinka Diz has released a album he’s making available for free, called New Art, New Money, and you can find it at YinkaDiz.com. - Book's Music

"Love 2 Success"

Yinka Diz anthropomorphizes the concept of success (à la Common with hip hop in “I Used To Love H.E.R “), heralding the journey to that culminating point over the soothing production from RK Cerman, from hedge funds to watches to infinite respect. - iLL Vibes

"Overnight Scenario Review"

In the !llmind-produced “Overnight Scenario”, the self-proclaimed “African Hendrix”, Yinka Diz, talks about how he’s not going out like that, and demonstrates why he’s an MC who writes and rhymes well. Having the right flow makes it all that much more believable, because if you sound sloppy, no one wants to hear you. In this case, you’ll want to hear him, AND see him, which you can do by checking out the video for the song. - Book's Music

"DJ Booth - Wind In My Caesar Review"

Yinka Diz returns for his second Booth feature with another record from his forthcoming project, New Art, New Money. His latest offering, Wind in My Caesar, featuring Booth regular Marky, is a soulful joint with El Puto Coke on production. Listening to his music, one thing is for sure, you’ll never find him slacking at his momma’s house on his momma’s couch (well, unless he’s visiting). The son of a Nigerian immigrant father and a mother who grew up on the rough side of Chicago, Yinka’s childhood included time in the Chi, Inland Empire (just outside of L.A.), some time abroad and now D.C. Those experiences helped craft the sound of the 25-year-old emcee/producer, who honestly reveals as much with lines like “I’m 25, I should be dead or in jail.” Wind in My Caesar is a song that’s about a sense of accomplishment, and it doesn’t hurt that the beat is dope and the hook is catchy. As Yinka so honestly says, “I ain’t whipping a Beamer, I’m just cruising with the wind in my Caesar…” Now that’s the kind of real rap I can relate to. - DJBooth.net

"New Art, New Money Review"

With all the rain and shitty weather going on, this should definitely lighten things up. Yinka Diz’s free album “New Art, New Money” is finally here! Rest assured to hear some of the best material coming out of the DMV at the moment. The overall Basquiat theme to the album coupled with some dominant production from Swiff D puts together a very strong project right here. After the jump but sure to preview some of the title tracks that have dropped in “40 Acres“, “Hold Me Down” featuring Nando, ” and “Wind in My Caesar” featuring Marky. So please, stop sleeping and get hip to a gem right here in “New Art, New Money.” Tracklisting after the jump! - IllVibes.co

Bio

Born to a Nigerian immigrant father and a mother from the notorious Cabrini Green homes of Chicago, Yinka Diz spent the early years of his childhood living in and around the city before moving to the Inland Empire, just outside of Los Angeles.

The I.E.’s vibrant mix of urban and suburban culture developed Yinka’s penchant for poetry and eventually, rhyme as a form of expression.  After his second year of high school, Yinka’s family relocated abroad, where he first experienced both a private school atmosphere and an introduction to European culture.

A constant world traveler and student of culture, Yinka effectively canvasses his experiences in what he refers to as a ‘street-cosmopolitan’ sound.  His music propels the listener into his cosmopolitan frame of mind, full of explosive wordplay and nuanced messages.

Currently, Yinka Diz resides in Washington, DC though you may run into him anywhere in the world at any given time.  He’s presently working on a new album entitled “The Departure”.
