"Ylie: “Big Bad Wolf” – an anthem against being mistreated and abused!"

Female MC, YLie (Pronounced “Why-Lie”), from Baltimore, Maryland, is gearing up to release her debut EP project, “The Truth.” Her first single off the EP, “Big Bad Wolf,” is just a hint of her relevant lyrics and conscious style. Influenced by her idol, Jay-Z, as well Emeli Sandé and J.Cole, Ylie listens to just about everything from Lil Wayne and Childish Gambino to Taylor Swift and Paramore.

Ylie has recently signed a major management and distribution deal with Robert Terrell’s Wealth Nation imprint and in addition to pursuing a career in music, Ylie hopes to expand her brand with a clothing line and by creating a non-profit organization to help get the homeless off the streets.

Singing since the age of 5, Ylie has been in the game and has grown from a girl to a woman doing what she loves. And it comes shining through on “Big Bad Wolf.” It shows that she is serious and she is a woman on her hustle. This song will give you motivation, hype and confidence. It’s a lady’s anthem without a doubt, but more than that it’s an anthem against being mistreated and abused, no matter your sex or age.

Ylie is not doing the typical sex/raunchy lyrics, so easily brandied about these days, to push up sales. She doesn’t fall into the trap of being vile and incredibly offensive to women, something that has been heard on more than one occasion from famous female rappers. No, Ylie is letting you see who she really is and what she stands up for, on this single. Her approach is frank and direct but never overtly explicit, even when dealing with horrific offences such as child abuse. Lyrically she spells it out, and you’ll get the picture, clearer than you’d ever want to!

Musically, YLie shows us that she can be versatile on any production and any hook, as she stays on top of the beat all the way through. She has skills and she keeps it real, sounding fresh and vital. “Big Bad Wolf” is a powerful, thoughtful song, containing a deep, serious message of empowerment. Just when female-powered hip hop was reaching its nadir, we have Ylie to come and save the day! - Jamsphere

Bio

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Ashley Ward professionally known as Ylie is an up and coming artist ready to take over the world with her appetite for relevant lyrics and conscious musical content. From the young age of 5, Ylie started writing poetry and dreamt of being a musical superstar.

Growing up around her brothers who all rapped, Ylie decided to put a spin on her passion for poetry and give music a try. She wrote, recorded and posted an original song to Face book and the positive feedback from her family and friends was all she needed to fuel her fire. Influenced by her idol, Jay-Z, as well EmeliSandé and J.Cole, Ylie started researching, making calls and networking via social media. In true Virgo fashion, Ylie was meticulous – she wrote and rehearsed several songs and in just one studio session, she recorded 13 songs with the help of an Engineer who has worked with artists like Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller.

As an aspiring artist with an urge to be heard, Ylie distributed her CD for free and received an overwhelming response from fans – with some wanting to pay for her quality of music. Given the positive response, Ylie continues to write and make music daily. She has worked with East Coast rising star artists such as Sullee J of Baltimore and MalcDat of Philly. Ylie has also collaborated with Mickey Factz of New York City.

Music affects Ylie’s mood in every single way possible and she listens to just about everything from Lil Wayne and Childish Gambino to Taylor Swift and Paramore. She does not categorize herself in one genre – instead she is versatile and enjoys putting her lyrics to a worthy beat whether it is Hip Hop, R&B, Alternative or Rock. Ylie is a “healthy mix of MC Lyte meets Kanye West” and believes her content is what sets her apart. Her friends describe her as genuine and both her poetry and lyrics come from real life experiences making her relatable to the masses.

Ylie is ready to make big moves in the industry and has recently signed a major management deal with Robert Terrell’s Wealth Nation imprint and Sony Red distribution to get the party started. She will be releasing a single titled “Love Me 2 Pieces” featuring CiCi Monae very soon. Ylie also plans to release an EP in the near future and is working with Wealth Nation to tour this summer to showcase her talent to the world.

In addition to pursuing a career in music, Ylie hopes to expand her brand with a clothing line and by creating a non-profit organization to help get the homeless off the streets. Although Ylie’s days and nights revolve around writing and making music, she likes to spend the little spare time she does have with family and making a difference in the community by mentoring and tutoring the local children.

Ylie is a well-rounded, enthusiastic rising artist ready to conquer the music industry. She’s ready to be known as a “dope lyricist” and aspires to be quotable – she wants you to FEEL something when you hear her music. "YLIE when you can speak TRUTH?".....
